11. April 2017: Rasha Abbas und Dario Deserri beim Parataxe-Festival, English Theatre, Berlin (in English and German)

PARATAXE presentation: What languages does Berlin write in? Berlin authors, who write in a language other than German will be introduced with discussions, lectures and translations.

This time with DARIO DESERRI (Italy/Berlin) and his translator Anna Giannessi as well as RASHA ABBAS (Syria/Berlin) and her German publisher Nikola Richter. The two guests will read work in the original language and in German. Talks with this evening’s host Martin Jankowski will take place in English.

Rasha Abbas (1984, born in Syria) is a journalist and an author. “Des Pudels Kern” and “Adam hasst das Fernsehen” are two of her volumes of short stories. In 2016 “Die Erfindung der deutschen Grammatik. Geschichten” was published by the Berlin based publishing house mikrotext.

Dario Deserri (1974, born in Italy) is an author und essayist. In 2011 he won the literary prize Laurentum in the category “Italians in the world”. His first novel, “Come le Nuvole sopra Berlino”, has been published in 2014 by Puntoacapo Editrice.

This evening will also see the first release of the stadtsprachen magazine.

The Berliner Literarische Aktion e.V. carries on the concept of the Stadtsprachen Festival: The website has become an online journal of Berlin’s contemporary literatures, through which Berlin authors and their multilingual texts (with translations in German and other languages) will be presented.

PARATAXE and stadtsprachen magazin (www.stadtsprachen.de) jointly introduce the ongoing multilingual authors and literary scenes of Berlin.
